Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) new rule governing reallocation of television channels 60-69, the 746-806 band. GAO noted that: (1) the new rule would reallocate the current television channels 60-69 for public safety fixed and mobile services on a primary basis and the remaining 36 megahertz of channels 60-69 to fixed and mobile commercial services that will be licensed through competitive bidding; and (2) FCC complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
