GAO reviewed the status of budget authority withheld pursuant to the 57 deferrals the President reported for fiscal year 1987.

GAO found that Congress: (1) disapproved 1 policy deferral in Public Law 100-6 and disapproved 10 policy deferrals in the Supplemental Appropriations Act; (2) discontinued 14 policy deferrals in response to the Supplemental Appropriations Act; and (3) undertook the other deferrals under the authority of the Antideficiency Act.
