GAO reported on the status of $500 million in budget authority for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that it had previously reported as deferred.

GAO found that: (1) although it had previously reported that the President was withholding HUD loan guarantee authority, the President actually proposed to defer HUD budget authority for community development grants; and (2) the President proposed to use the deferred funds in fiscal year 1987.
