GAO reviewed the President's sixth special message for fiscal year 1984.

The special message proposed nine rescissions totaling $634,711,454, thirteen new deferrals totaling $143,595,000, and revisions to five previously reported deferrals totaling $68,152,365. The period during which funds may be withheld pending congressional consideration will end on March 28, 1984. GAO believed that the proposed deferrals were in accordance with existing authority.
