GAO provided a supplement including copies of letters from Congress and other interested parties relating to its report on military base closures and realignments.

GAO found that: (1) many interested parties, including members of Congress, have sent GAO correspondence on base closures; (2) several of these letters were from multiple requesters and included attachments of data, analyses, and/or evaluations; (3) in some instances, the letters and material provided useful leads; (4) in other cases, the material added support to issues GAO was actively pursuing; (5) GAO could not follow up on many of the issues or points because of the limited time available to GAO; and (6) however, GAO believes that the letters and materials may be helpful to the Base Closure and Realignment Commission as it considers the proposed closures and realignments.
