Missile Procurement

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO commented on the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile's production status. GAO noted that: (1) since June 1991, both contractors have increased their monthly production quantities but fell short of the quantities projected in the last report; (2) the Air Force renegotiated the contractors' delivery schedules to provide for a more moderate increase in monthly production quantities; and (3) based on the projected funding schedule, funding will not be needed for 581 missiles in fiscal year 1993.
