Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Air Force's fiscal year (FY) 1992 aircraft procurement budget request and its prior-year appropriations for common aircraft support equipment and for aircraft programs and modifications, focusing on potential: (1) reductions to the FY 1992 budget request; and (2) rescissions to prior-year appropriations.

GAO: (1) identified $352 million in potential reductions to the FY 1992 budget request and $10.2 million and $2.7 million in potential rescissions of appropriated funds from FY 1991 and FY 1989, respectively; and (2) found no potential rescissions to FY 1990 funds.
