Highlights
Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on the process for and status of information technology budget revisions at four Department of Agriculture (USDA) farm services agencies. GAO noted that: (1) planned USDA information technology expenditures for 1993 total $397 million, including $191 million for long-range objectives and $206 million to operate and maintain existing systems; (2) agency-wide revisions of budgets are needed to reallocate funds for projects not completed during 1992; and (3) detailed analyses of farm agencies' information technology budgets are needed to justify proposed 1993 expenditures.
