GAO provided information on its Federal Management and Workforce Issue Area Plan for Fiscal Years 1999 and 2000.

GAO plans to focus its work on: (1) central management in a decentralized government; (2) managing for results and accountability; (3) improving employee compensation and benefit programs; (4) collecting and disseminating information; (5) improving federal regulatory management; and (6) managing the Department of Commerce.
