In response to a congressional request, GAO compiled a listing of its fiscal year 1987 activities regarding older Americans.

GAO issued 54 reports on topics concerning the elderly such as: (1) Medicare and Medicaid programs; (2) Social Security programs; (3) pensions; (4) medical malpractice; and (5) Medigap insurance. GAO also listed 55 reports in process relating to the elderly and presented its employment policies affecting the elderly.
