GAO Activities in Fiscal Year 1986

Contact:
In response to a congressional request, GAO: (1) reported on its fiscal year 1986 activities regarding older Americans; and (2) provided information on its own employees who are age 40 and older.
GAO listed its completed products and work in process that relate to issues affecting the elderly, including Medicaid, Medicare, disability, retirement, housing, and Social Security programs and benefits. GAO noted that: (1) during 1986, 109 out of 452 persons it appointed were age 40 and older; and (2) it continues to provide employees nearing retirement age with individual retirement counseling and preretirement seminars.
