Health Care Financing Administration The Administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) should discontinue Medicare payments for conventional eyeglasses for aphakic and pseudophakic beneficiaries.
Closed – Not Implemented
HCFA developed a regulation to implement this recommendation, but action was delayed by a change in administrators. On July 15, 1988, the Office of the Inspector General, in a follow-up report to the GAO report, recommended HCFA implement the recommendation. HCFA stated that it had no immediate plans to act.
