Highlights
Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO recently surveyed a sample of 139 area agencies on aging to obtain information on the number of people, by age group, that the area agencies on aging employ. The primary concern was the proportion of people employed by the agencies who are 60 years old or older. The survey excluded volunteers from the statistics and did not include information for nonprofessional staff.
