Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) use of federal funds for conducting counterterrorism-related activities, focusing on the: (1) amount of funds that the FBI allocated and obligated for fiscal years (FY) 1995 through 1998 (as of July 31, 1998); and (2) methodology the FBI used to identify its overall counterterrorism funding, including funds for classified activities.
