Management Reform

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on: (1) the implementation of the National Performance Review's (NPR) 384 recommendations as of June and July 1994; and (2) which NPR recommendations were related to federal high-risk programs. GAO noted that: (1) 11 recommendations have been fully implemented; (2) 95 recommendations have been partially implemented; (3) 228 recommendations have not been implemented, but some action has been taken towards implementation; (4) 33 recommendations have not been implemented and no action has been taken; (5) there was insufficient or conflicting information on the status of implementation for 14 recommendations; (6) action has been taken on 3 recommendations which is consistent with the purpose of the recommendations; and (7) 21 NPR recommendations were related to GAO-identified high-risk areas and 42 recommendations were related Office of Management and Budget-identified high-risk areas.
