Perspectives on High-Risk and Other Challenges Facing Government

This is a Comptroller General presentation delivered to the Board of Directors, American Academy of Actuaries, in Washington, DC on on May 8, 2013. Major topics of this presentation include: overall budget environment in the near and long term, debt held by the public under two fiscal policy simulations, GAO's high-risk list, limiting the federal government's fiscal exposure by better managing climate change risks, national flood insurance program, improving and modernizing federal disability programs, and modernizing the U.S. financial regulatory system.
