GAO reviewed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new rule on national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants for major sources. GAO found that (1) the final rule establishes emission standards that will require industrial, commercial, and institutional boilers and process heaters located at major sources to meet hazardous air pollutants standards reflecting the application of the maximum achievable control technology; and EPA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
