- Full Report:
GAO reviewed the Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services' (BCIS) new rule on the Adjustment of the Immigration Benefit Application Fee Schedule. GAO found that (1) the rule would adjust the fee schedule of the Immigration Examinations Fee Account for immigration benefit applications and petitions, as well as the fee for capturing biometric information of applicants or petitioners who apply for certain immigration benefits; and (2) BCIS complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule, with the exception of the 60-day delay in the effective date.
