Purchase of Residence in Tokyo for Financial Attache from Exchange Stabilization

This document relates to GAO's review of circumstances relating to the purchase by the Treasury Department of a one-family resident in Tokyo at a price of $150,000 for occupancy by the Financial Attache stationed there disclosed that the Secretary of the Treasury used moneys from the Treasury's Exchange Stabilization Fund to purchase this house under authority vested in the Secretary by section 10b of the Gold Reserve Act of 1934.
