GAO provided a supplement to its report on federal policy alternatives for reviving the homebuilding and forest products industries.

The report analyzed the causes of the current downturn in housing construction and compared a broad sample of home ownership and rental housing stimulus proposals. A special analysis of the problems of the forest products industry was also presented. Some of the quantitative analysis in that report was based on contract modeling work performed under GAO supervision. This supplement provides the modelers' detailed descriptions and the results of their proposals.
