The Department of the Treasury requests the decision of the Comptroller General in regards to whether or not the Bureau of Federal Supply accepting custody of approximately 83 acres of Government-owned land presently under the control of the War Assets Administration as surplus property upon payments of the fair value of said land to the War Assets Administration.

If it was administratively determined that the transfer of land here in question is "necessary for the ...storage...of strategic and critical materials for national defense purposes," as provided by the First Supplemental Appropriation Act, 1947, it would appear that the cost thereof reasonably may be regarded as a proper charge against the appropriation established by the said act.
