1. WHEN DIRECTED BY THE COMMANDANT, NAVY YARD, PHILADELPHIA, PA., YOU WILL STAND DETACHED FROM YOUR PRESENT STATION AND DUTIES, WILL PROCEED TO BALTIMORE, MD., AND THENCE VIA STEAMER OF THE BALTIMORE MAIL LINE, SCHEDULED TO SAIL FROM THAT PORT ON OR ABOUT OCTOBER 14, 1937, TO LE HARVE, FRANCE. ON ARRIVAL AT LE HAVRE, YOU WILL PROCEED TO PARIS, FRANCE, AND REPORT TO THE AMERICAN AMBASSADOR AND TO THE NAVAL ATTACHE, FOR DUTY.

2. ON RECEIPT OF AUTHORITY FROM THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT AND WHEN DIRECTED BY THE NAVAL ATTACHE, AMERICAN EMBASSY, PARIS, YOU WILL REPORT TO THE COMMANDING OFFICER, ECOLE DE GUERRE, FOR ASSIGNMENT TO THE 1938-40 CLASS OF THAT SCHOOL.

3. THE NAVAL ATTACHE, PARIS, IS HEREBY DIRECTED TO ISSUE ORDERS TO YOU AT SUCH TIMES AS MAY BE NECESSARY BEFORE AND DURING THE PERIOD OF THE ABOVE COURSE TO PERFORM SUCH TRAVEL AS MAY BE REQUIRED DURING FIELD EXERCISES AND MANEUVERS CONDUCTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE COURSE OF STUDY AT THE ABOVE-NAMED SCHOOL. FOR SUCH TRAVEL AND WHILE AWAY FROM YOUR DESIGNATED POST OF DUTY, YOU WILL BE ALLOWED A PER DIEM OF SIX DOLLARS IN ADDITION TO THE ACTUAL COST OF THE TRAVEL INVOLVED.

YOU WILL AVAIL YOURSELF OF THIS OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY THE ORGANIZATION AND EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING OF THE FRENCH ARTILLERY.
