Highlights

A transferred Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employee claimed reimbursement for lodging expenses. GAO held that: (1) cleaning charges were reimbursable, since that service was customarily included in the price of a hotel room; and (2) charges for renter's insurance and lawn mowing were not reimbursable expenses, because they were not services ordinarily provided to a hotel guest. Accordingly, the claim was allowed in part.
