[HUD Employee's Claim for Waiver of Salary Overpayment]

A Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) employee claimed waiver of a salary overpayment. HUD advised that the claimant was entitled to only 50 percent of his indefinite pay retention, but was erroneously paid the full 100 percent for approximately 8 months. GAO found that HUD properly denied the claimant's request for waiver, since the claimant failed to question the accuracy of his pay when his grade retention was terminated. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
