Financial Audit Requirements for Government Corporations:

At the request of Bob Gramling, AFMD issue area director for corporate audits, I worked with AFMD staff in identifying statutory provisions relating to GAO audits of government corporations. The universe of government corporations we examined were those identified in Profiles Of Government Corporations: A Study Prepared by the U.S. General Accounting Office for the Committee on Government Operations (Comm. Print December 1988), plus some additional government entities identified by OGC and AFMD staff. This research project was to assist AFMD in developing its program plan by identifying whether statutes require that GAO conduct financial audits of the government corporations.

B-239201 was opened on April 5, 1990 in response to a request from William D. Grandstaff, AFMD, for a clean copy of the notes I prepared summarizing the statutes we examined. I responded to Mr. Grindstaff on April 20, 1990, and case B-239201 may now be closed.
