Highlights

A transferred Bureau of Reclamation employee claimed reimbursement for: (1) lodging the night he arrived at his permanent duty station, before his temporary quarters entitlement commenced; and (2) expenses related to his wife's house-hunting trip, which occurred during the period of his temporary quarters entitlement. GAO held that the: (1) Bureau could not reimburse the claimant for lodging expenses for the night of his arrival, since that would effectively represent an extra day of temporary quarters allowance; and (2) claimant was entitled to reimbursement for temporary quarters expenses during his wife's house-hunting trip, excluding lodging expenses. Accordingly, the claim was allowed in part and denied in part.
