The Air Force requested an advance decision regarding an airline's claim for reimbursement for economy class transportation it provided for a service member. The airline contended that it was entitled to reimbursement for the more expensive fare, since: (1) the Air Force approved the service; and (2) it did not agree to provide reduced military routing service. GAO held that the: (1) airline was entitled to reimbursement for the portion of the service it performed at the higher fare based on the terms of the agreement; and (2) Air Force properly limited its payment to the reduced military fare for the service another airline performed. Accordingly, the claim was allowed.
