[Former Air Force Member's Request for Waiver of Separation Overpayment]

A former Air Force member appealed the denial of her claim for waiver of a separation overpayment, contending that the overpayment was not large enough to make her aware of the error prior to Air Force notification. GAO held that the member was not at fault, since: (1) she did not receive an itemized statement of her separation pay; (2) she had no special knowledge of payroll processes; and (3) her salary payments had fluctuated. Accordingly, the overpayment was waived.
