The Navy and a union requested a decision concerning whether five Navy employees were entitled to receive overtime compensation for time spent waiting at airports for their scheduled flights to depart and for time spent clearing the airport after arrival. GAO held that the employees were not entitled to the overtime compensation, since: (1) they performed no work during the travel time; and (2) the travel time was outside their regular work hours and corresponding hours on nonwork days. Accordingly, the claims were denied.
