The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requested a decision regarding a transferred employee's claim for reimbursement for real estate expenses he incurred incident to his transfer. The claimant failed to finalize the purchase of property at his new duty station within 3 years of his transfer. GAO held that, even though the sale was delayed by a lawsuit that the claimant filed against the seller, there was no authority for it to waive the statutory limitation on relocation expense claims. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
