The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requested a decision concerning a transferred employee's entitlement to an extension of his temporary quarters subsistence allowance due to a delay in the construction of his new home. GAO noted that FBI denied the request on the basis of a policy directive. GAO held that FBI properly denied the extension, because the employee's construction contract, which did not schedule completion of his home until after his first 60 days in temporary quarters, was not in compliance with the applicable FBI directive. Accordingly, the request was denied.
