GAO commented on a request that it promulgate more equitable rules for reimbursing federal employees for their official travel subsistence expenses. GAO noted that: (1) the Federal Civilian Employee and Contractor Travel Expenses Act of 1985 contained significant changes in the regulations governing expenses that address the inequities; and (2) the General Services Administration, not GAO, promulgates federal travel regulations.
