Highlights

An Office of Personnel Management (OPM) employee requested reconsideration of his denied claim for additional severance pay. GAO had held that OPM properly calculated his severance payment based on his pay rate at the time of his last permanent appointment. In his request for reconsideration, the claimant contended that OPM should have based his severance pay on his pay rate during his temporary employment. GAO held that the applicable regulations unambiguously required calculation of severance pay based on the employee's pay rate during his last permanent job. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
