Reductions in Retirement Pay

Lt. Col. W. S. Moriarty, United States Marine Corps, Centralized Pay Division, Marine Corps Finance Center, requested an advance decision concerning reduction in retirement pay of a retired noncommissioned officer to provide annuity coverage for his new spouse and stepchildren under the Survivor Benefit Plan. Since the member had already rejected coverage for his dependent children, the coverage could not be amended to cover stepchildren. The spouse can become eligible eventually for coverage.
