Military Dependents' Travel Prior to Issuance of Change of Station Orders

A member appealed the disallowance of his claim for a monetary allowance in lieu of transportation of dependents incident to his retirement. The member requested shipment of his household goods prior to issuance of his retirement orders. Reimbursement for dependents' travel prior to issuance of change of station orders is allowable only where the member was advised that such orders would be issued, and mere notification and administrative recognition of the date of eligibility for retirement may not be considered as advice that orders are to be issued.
