IF IT IS REASONABLE AND PRUDENT UNDER THE PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCES FOR A MEMBER TO REMAIN OVERNIGHT AFTER COMPLETING TEMPORARY DUTY BEFORE CONTINUING HIS TRAVEL. CAPTAIN SORACCO WAS DIRECTED TO PROCEED FROM VIENNA. UPON COMPLETION OF THE DUTY CAPTAIN SORACCO WAS TO RETURN TO VIENNA. RETURN TRAVEL FROM SAN FRANCISCO WAS RECONSTRUCTED TO PROVIDE FOR A DEPARTURE AT 10:20 P.M. PER DIEM WAS PAID ON THAT BASIS. HE IS OF THE OPINION THAT IT WAS REASONABLE TO SPEND THE NIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO AND TRAVEL THE NEXT MORNING AS HE HAD ALREADY WORKED A FULL DAY AND IN VIEW OF THE LENGTH OF TIME REQUIRED TO FLY FROM CALIFORNIA TO DULLES AIRPORT. A MEMBER OF A UNIFORMED SERVICE IS ENTITLED TO TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION ALLOWANCES FOR TRAVEL PERFORMED UNDER ORDERS WHEN AWAY FROM HIS DESIGNATED POST OF DUTY.
