YOUR LETTER OF OCTOBER 28, 1968, REQUESTS REVIEW OF SETTLEMENT DATED OCTOBER 16, 1968, WHICH DISALLOWED PART OF YOUR CLAIM FOR YOUR TRAVEL IN 1965 FROM CAPETOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, TO BELIZE, BRITISH HONDURAS, UNDER ORDERS WHICH AUTHORIZED LEAVE AT HADDAM, CONNECTICUT, AND CONSULTATION IN WASHINGTON, D.C., PRIOR TO HOME LEAVE.

YOUR ORIGINAL TRAVEL ORDER DATED JANUARY 21, 1965, AND AMENDMENT DATED MARCH 16, 1965, DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE TRANSPORTATION OF YOUR FOREIGN MAKE CAR. HOWEVER, YOUR ORDERS WERE SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED TO AUTHORIZE SUCH TRANSPORTATION AT GOVERNMENT EXPENSE.

YOU LEFT CAPETOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, BY AIR FEBRUARY 23, 1965, FOR NEW YORK VIA FRANKFURT, GERMANY, AND LONDON, ENGLAND, ARRIVING IN NEW YORK FEBRUARY 27, 1965. INSTEAD OF REPORTING DIRECT TO WASHINGTON, D.C., AS DIRECTED, YOU PROCEEDED TO HADDAM, CONNECTICUT, AND REPORTED TO WASHINGTON, D.C., ON THE EVENING OF MARCH 1, 1965. FROM MIAMI TO BELIZE, BRITISH HONDURAS, YOU ARE ONLY ENTITLED TO COST OF TRAVEL BY DIRECT ROUTE WHICH COULD ONLY BE MADE BY AIR AT A COST OF $55 PLUS PER DIEM OF 1/4 DAY AT $18 OR $4.50. IN ADDITION, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO WHAT IT WOULD HAVE COST TO SHIP YOUR AUTOMOBILE DIRECT FROM MIAMI TO BELIZE, WHICH WE HAVE ASCERTAINED TO BE $229.13. YOU ARE ALSO ENTITLED TO $17.50, THE COST OF MOVING YOUR HOUSEHOLD GOODS FROM DOCKSIDE TO YOUR QUARTERS IN BELIZE. THE TOTAL OF THE ABOVE IS $751.33. FROM THIS AMOUNT THERE IS TO BE DEDUCTED $225, THE COST OF TRANSPORTATION FURNISHED BY INDIRECT ROUTE FROM MIAMI TO BELIZE ON GOVERNMENT TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS NOS. L1,113,681 AND L1,113,682. ALSO THERE IS FOR DEDUCTION THE $165.10 ALLOWED IN OUR OFFICE SETTLEMENT OF OCTOBER 16, 1968.

IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING, OUR CLAIMS DIVISION WILL ISSUE IN DUE COURSE A SETTLEMENT IN YOUR FAVOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $361.23.
