FURTHER REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTERS OF SEPTEMBER 22, 1964, AND APRIL 6, 1965, FILE G-WQ-19551-BG, IN WHICH YOU REQUEST REVIEW OF OUR SETTLEMENT CERTIFICATE OF NOVEMBER 26, 1962 (TK-744314), WHICH DISALLOWED YOUR CLAIM ON SUPPLEMENTAL BILL NO. WQ-19551-A FOR $3,903.94. THE AMOUNT CLAIMED REPRESENTS ADDITIONAL FREIGHT CHARGES ALLEGEDLY DUE ON 14 CARLOAD SHIPMENTS DESCRIBED AS MILITARY BRIDGES OR MILITARY BRIDGE PARTS, IRON OR STEEL, WHICH MOVED FROM CAMBRIDGE, OHIO, TO BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA, IN AUGUST 1945.

ON THE BASIS OF THE INFORMATION DEVELOPED AND NOW OF RECORD, WE HAVE INSTRUCTED OUR TRANSPORTATION DIVISION TO ALLOW, IF OTHERWISE PROPER, THE AMOUNTS CLAIMED ON THE ELEVEN BILLS OF LADING LISTED BELOW:

WE FIND, HOWEVER, THAT THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES DUE ON THE REMAINING THREE BILLS OF LADING NUMBERED WW-961616, WW-961617, AND WW 961640, WHICH SEEM TO COVER BRIDGE PARTS RATHER THAN COMPLETE BRIDGES. THIS FINDING IS BASED UPON THE DESCRIPTIONS GIVEN ON THE BILLS OF LADINGOR THE NAMED ITEM LISTED ON THE SHIPPING DOCUMENTS. FOR INSTANCE, BILL OF LADING WW-961616 SHOWS THAT IT COVERS 95 BUNDLES OF BRACING, APPARENTLY FOR A V-TYPE BRIDGE, AND BILL OF LADING WW-961617 SHOWS THAT IT COVERS 93 BUNDLES OF V-TYPE TRESTLE BRIDGE PARTS AND 3 "PONTOON OR PORTABLE, IRON OR STEEL.' ON THE OTHER HAND, BILL OF LADING WW-961640 SHOWS REFERENCE TO 158 BUNDLES V-TYPE TRESTLE BRIDGE, BUT THE WAR DEPARTMENT SHIPPING DOCUMENT SHOWS THAT THE SHIPMENT COVERED BY THIS BILL OF LADING CONSISTED OF 158 BUNDLES OF TRESTLE STOOLS, COLUMNS, YOKES AND SHIM PLATES. THUS, ON THESE THREE SHIPMENTS THE GROSS RATE OF 67 CENTS PER 100 POUNDS, PUBLISHED IN CENTRAL FREIGHT ASSOCIATION IRON OR STEEL TARIFF NO. 393-E FOR APPLICATION ON BRACING OR STRUCTURAL FORMS, IRON OR STEEL, LESS LAND- GRANT, PRODUCING A RATE OF 53.061 CENTS PER 100 POUNDS NET, IS CONSIDERED TO BE PROPERLY APPLICABLE FOR THE COMPUTING CHARGES FROM CAMBRIDGE, OHIO, TO BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA, AND, ACCORDINGLY, NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES ARE DUE THEREON.
