REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER OF MARCH 31, 1965, REGARDING YOUR CLAIM FOR PAY AND ALLOWANCES INCIDENT TO YOUR SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY.

YOU ENCLOSED A COPY OF A LETTER DATED MARCH 29, 1965, FROM THE NAVY DISCHARGE REVIEW BOARD, ADVISING YOU THAT THE REVIEW OF YOUR DISCHARGE HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND THAT IT IS THE BOARD'S DECISION THAT YOUR ORIGINAL DISCHARGE FROM THE UNITED STATES NAVY BE CHANGED TO "HONORABLE.' IT IS THERE STATED THAT THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD AND ITS FINAL ACTION IN YOUR CASE HAVE BEEN REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY; THAT THE CHIEF OF NAVAL PERSONNEL HAS BEEN REQUESTED TO ISSUE YOUR NEW DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE TO YOU; AND THAT YOU MAY ALSO EXPECT TO RECEIVE FROM THE CHIEF OF NAVAL PERSONNEL "INFORMATION WITH RESPECT TO ANY MUSTERING OUT PAYMENT, VETERANS' OR ANY OTHER BENEFITS TO WHICH YOU MAY HAVE BECOME ENTITLED.'

IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES, IT WOULD NOT BE PROPER FOR US TO TAKE ANY ACTION ON YOUR CLAIM FOR ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS INCIDENT TO YOUR SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY AND YOU SHOULD FILE CLAIM THEREFOR WITH THE CHIEF OF NAVAL PERSONNEL FOR CONSIDERATION IN CONNECTION WITH THE MATTERS MENTIONED ABOVE. IF THE DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY SHOULD HAVE ANY DOUBT AS TO THE PROPRIETY OF THE PAYMENT OF YOUR CLAIM, IT WILL THEN SEND THE CLAIM TO OUR OFFICE FOR SETTLEMENT.
