THERE HAS BEEN RECEIVED A LETTER DATED MARCH 1, 1961, FROM MR. WILLIAM BUCHANAN GOLD, JR., OF THE LAW FIRM OF SNYDER AND BENT IN EFFECT REQUESTING IN YOUR BEHALF REVIEW OF THE CLAIM OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST YOU IN THE SUM OF $75.60.

WHILE THE MATTER OF YOUR INDEBTEDNESS HAS NOT BEEN REFERRED TO THIS OFFICE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY FOR COLLECTION OUR RECORDS SHOW THAT IT AROSE FROM AUDIT EXCEPTIONS TAKEN BY OUR OFFICE TO PAYMENTS OF PER DIEM IN THE AMOUNTS OF $33.75 AND $41.85 MADE TO YOU FOR PER DIEM FOR TEMPORARY DUTY IN JAPAN DURING THE PERIOD JUNE 6 TO JULY 31, 1958, UNDER VERBAL ORDERS OF JUNE 6, 1958, CONFIRMED BY LETTER ORDER NO. 6 60, DATED JUNE 23, 1958. UPON REVIEW OF THE EXCEPTIONS AND IN CONSIDERATION OF AN EXPLANATION OF YOUR DUTY FURNISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY, INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR REMOVAL OF THE EXCEPTIONS.

THE REMOVAL OF THE EXCEPTIONS WILL, NO DOUBT, RESULT IN THE DISCONTINUANCE OF THE COLLECTION PROCEEDINGS.
