REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER DATED MARCH 25, 1961, WITH ENCLOSURES, REQUESTING REVIEW OF OUR SETTLEMENT DATED MARCH 16, 1961, WHICH DISALLOWED YOUR CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAVEL EXPENSES INCURRED FROM BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA, TO NEW YORK, NEW YORK, DURING JULY 1960 IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR REPORTING FOR ACTIVE DUTY FOR TRAINING AS CORPORAL, UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS RESERVE, AT MARINE CORPS SCHOOLS, QUANTICO, VIRGINIA.

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION ALLOWANCES FOR MEMBERS OF THE UNIFORMED SERVICES AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 303 OF THE CAREER COMPENSATION ACT OF 1949, 37 U.S.C. 253, ARE PAYABLE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE JOINT TRAVEL REGULATIONS ISSUED PURSUANT TO THE STATUTE. UPON RECONSIDERATION OF YOUR CLAIM, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT FOR YOUR TRAVEL FROM YOUR HOME IN BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA, TO PORT OF DEBARKATION IN THE UNITED STATES, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR ONE-HALF OF THE COST OF ROUND-TRIP TRANSCONTINENTAL TICKET NO. 21362, COVERING TRANSPORTATION FROM NEW YORK TO BUENOS AIRES AND RETURN. IT HAS BEEN ASCERTAINED FROM THE CARRIER THAT YOUR FATHER ACTUALLY PAID $484.57 FOR THE TICKET IN ARGENTINA. ACCORDINGLY, INSTRUCTIONS ARE BEING ISSUED TO OUR CLAIMS DIVISION TO ALLOW YOUR CLAIM IN THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $242.29 AND A SETTLEMENT IN THAT AMOUNT WILL ISSUE IN YOUR FAVOR IN THE NEAR FUTURE. CHECK NO. 713,797, DATED MARCH 22, 1961, FOR $37.98 COVERING MILEAGE FROM NEW YORK, NEW YORK, TO QUANTICO, VIRGINIA, AND FROM QUANTICO TO HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, IS RETURNED AND MAY BE NEGOTIATED WITHOUT JEOPARDIZING YOUR RIGHT TO THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT FOUND DUE YOU.
