B-142285, NOV. 21, 1960

TO HAROLD J. HIGLEY TRUCKING:

REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTERS OF MARCH 10 AND 21, 1960, IN WHICH YOU REQUEST RECONSIDERATION OF THE DISALLOWANCE BY OUR TRANSPORTATION DIVISION OF YOUR 16 CLAIMS, BILLS NOS. 101 A, B, C AND D; 104 A AND B; 106 A AND B; 113 A AND B; 114 A AND B; 115 A AND B; AND 118 A AND B; FOR ADDITIONAL FREIGHT CHARGES FOR DELIVERY OF THE SHIPMENTS ON A SATURDAY. YOUR CLAIMS WERE ORIGINALLY DISALLOWED FOR THE REASON THAT THE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS OF RECEIPT AND THE CERTIFICATES OF DELIVERY ON THE RESPECTIVE BILLS OF LADING INDICATED THAT THE LADING WAS IN EVERY INSTANCE PICKED UP ON A DAY OTHER THAN SATURDAY AND DELIVERED AT DESTINATION ON THE SAME DAY. HOWEVER, A REPORT HAS NOW BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE IN RESPONSE TO OUR INQUIRY WHICH CONFIRMS YOUR CONTENTIONS.

ACCORDINGLY, YOUR CLAIMS HAVE BEEN RETURNED TO OUR TRANSPORTATION DIVISION WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO ALLOW THE CLAIMS, IF OTHERWISE CORRECT. OUR TRANSPORTATION DIVISION HAS ADVISED US THAT TWO OF THE INVOLVED CLAIMS--- TK 688074 AND TK 688075, YOUR BILLS 114 A AND 114 B--- HAVE ALREADY BEEN ALLOWED. SETTLEMENT OF THE REMAINING 14 CLAIMS SHOULD BE RECEIVED BY YOU FROM OUR TRANSPORTATION DIVISION IN DUE COURSE.
