AS YOU WERE ADVISED BY OUR OFFICE, ON AUGUST 5, 1957, REPORTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY ARE TO THE EFFECT THAT ONLY $1,040.83 OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $15,737.28, TRANSMITTED TO THE ARMY EFFECTS BUREAU, WAS DUE TO PRIVATE HARDIN. ALSO, THE LEGISLATIVE CLAIMS DIVISION OF THE JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL'S OFFICE, DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY, HAS REPORTED THAT A BANK CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,040.83 WAS ISSUED TO YOU IN APRIL 1946 AND THAT SAID CHECK WAS RECEIPTED FOR AND ENDORSED IN THE NAME OF "J. G. S. HARDIN.'
