TO MR. THOMAS H. CARVER:

YOUR LETTER OF JUNE 18, 1957, MAKING RECLAIM FOR THE AMOUNT OF $44.37, REPRESENTING TRAVEL EXPENSES BELIEVED DUE, HAS BEEN CONSIDERED.

A REVIEW OF YOUR CLAIMS AND PAID VOUCHERS SHOWS THAT YOUR CLAIM ON VOUCHER NO. 4443 FOR $540.85, WAS APPROVED IN THE AMOUNT OF $409.53. THE SUM OF $131.32 WAS SUSPENDED. ON VOUCHER NO. 5040 YOU ONLY RECLAIMED $130.57 OF THE AMOUNT SUSPENDED (AN ITEM OF $0.75, FOR INSURANCE HAS NOT BEEN RECLAIMED BY YOU). THE RECLAIM VOUCHER, NO. 5040, WAS APPROVED IN THE AMOUNT OF $61.13 AND THE SUM OF $69.44 WAS SUSPENDED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE AMOUNT OF $13.07 WAS PAID ON VOUCHER NO. 6334, REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF THE SUSPENSION TO $56.37. THEN AN ITEM OF $12, REPRESENTING THE COST OF A LIMOUSINE, SAN FRANCISCO TO BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, WAS ALLOWED, REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF SUSPENSION TO $44.37, THE AMOUNT RECLAIMED IN YOUR LETTER OF JUNE 18.

THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE HAS FURNISHED OUR OFFICE A CERTIFICATE DATED AUGUST 9, 1957, WAIVING, UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 180 FSTR 3.64, THE TIME LIMITATION COVERING THE TRAVEL OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AUTHORIZED BY TRAVEL ORDER NO. 3-26518-B, DATED AUGUST 28, 1953, FROM WASHINGTON, D.C., TO CALIFORNIA.

IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING OUR CLAIMS DIVISION IS TODAY BEING INSTRUCTED TO ALLOW, BY SUPPLEMENTAL SETTLEMENT, THE SUM OF $44.37 AS CLAIMED AND IN ADDITION THE AMOUNT FOUND DUE ON YOUR CLAIM OF MARCH 22, 1955, COVERING THE TRAVEL TO CALIFORNIA, AS A RESULT OF THE WAIVER CERTIFICATE REFERRED TO ABOVE. ALSO, SINCE $447.78 WAS WITHHELD ON OUR SETTLEMENT OF MAY 1, 1957, BECAUSE OF USE OF TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS FOR TRAVEL OF YOURSELF AND FAMILY AFTER EXPIRATION DATE SPECIFIED IN THE TRAVEL ORDER DATED APRIL 19, 1954, WHICH TIME LIMIT HAS NOW BEEN WAIVED BY THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE, OUR CLAIMS DIVISION WILL ADJUST THE INDEBTEDNESS ACCORDINGLY.
