TO LIEUTENANT COLONEL WILLIAM L. THOMAS:

FURTHER REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER DATED JULY 2, 1956, CONCERNING YOUR CLAIM FOR STATION PER DIEM ALLOWANCE FOR THE PERIOD MAY 1, 1947, TO JULY 17, 1949, WHILE YOU WERE ASSIGNED TO DUTY IN THE FREE TERRITORY OF TRIESTE.

SINCE YOU SAY THAT YOU WERE FURNISHED GOVERNMENT QUARTERS DURING THE PERIOD INVOLVED, YOUR LETTER WILL BE CONSIDERED AS A REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION OF THAT PART OF THE SETTLEMENT DATED JULY 1, 1952, OF OUR CLAIMS DIVISION, WHICH DISALLOWED YOUR CLAIM FOR THE SUBSISTENCE PORTION OF THE STATION PER DIEM ALLOWANCE.

YOUR CLAIM FOR SUCH SUBSISTENCE PORTION IS SUBSTANTIALLY SIMILAR TO THAT OF CAPTAIN FLOYD R. STANFIELD, CONSIDERED IN OUR DECISION DATED MARCH 17, 1953, B-111431, COPY ENCLOSED. FOR THE REASONS STATED IN THAT DECISION THERE IS NO AUTHORITY FOR THE PAYMENT OF YOUR CLAIM. ACCORDINGLY, THE SETTLEMENT OF JULY 1, 1952, IS SUSTAINED.
