FURTHER REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER OF JUNE 30, 1954, RELATIVE TO YOUR CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF $70 AS HOTEL EXPENSE INCURRED WHILE AT THE COLUMBIA HOTEL, MUNICH, GERMANY, DURING THE MONTH OF MAY 1953, WHILE AWAITING ASSIGNMENT TO GOVERNMENT QUARTERS FOR DEPENDENTS.

BY SETTLEMENT DATED FEBRUARY 2, 1954, YOUR CLAIM WAS DISALLOWED FOR THE REASON THAT REGULATIONS DO NOT PROVIDE FOR THE PAYMENT OF HOTEL EXPENSES INCURRED IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES.

YOU REQUEST THAT YOUR CLAIM BE CONSIDERED UNDER PARAGRAPHS 1150-5 AND 4301-4B, JOINT TRAVEL REGULATIONS. THOSE REGULATIONS DEAL WITH THE RIGHTS OF MEMBERS OF THE UNIFORMED SERVICES TO CERTAIN ALLOWANCES FOR QUARTERS, BUT NO PROVISION IS MADE IN THOSE REGULATIONS, OR ANY OTHER REGULATION KNOWN TO THIS OFFICE, FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES SUCH AS THOSE STATED TO HAVE BEEN INCURRED BY YOU DURING THE PERIOD YOU STAYED AT THE COLUMBIA HOTEL. ACCORDINGLY, THE SETTLEMENT OF FEBRUARY 2, 1954, IS SUSTAINED.
