THAT HE WAS DISCHARGED ON MARCH 31. $300 WAS WITHHELD BY REASON OF THE SAID PAYMENT OF FLYING PAY. JAMES NO LONGER IS IN THE SERVICE. REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER OF MARCH 31, 1952, WITH ENCLOSURES, REQUESTING AN ADVANCE DECISION AS TO THE PROPRIETY OF PAYMENT TO SECOND LIEUTENANT EUGENE JAMES, USAFR, OF FLYING PAY FOR THE MONTHS OF AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, AND OCTOBER, 1951.

FROM YOUR LETTER AND THE ENCLOSURES THEREWITH, IT APPEARS THAT LIEUTENANT JAMES WAS PAID FLYING PAY IN THE AMOUNT OF $300 FOR THE ABOVE PERIOD; THAT HE WAS DISCHARGED ON MARCH 31, 1952; AND THAT, IN THE SETTLEMENT OF HIS FINAL PAY, $300 WAS WITHHELD BY REASON OF THE SAID PAYMENT OF FLYING PAY.

SINCE IT APPEARS THAT MR. JAMES NO LONGER IS IN THE SERVICE, HIS CLAIM FOR THE SAID FLYING PAY IS ONE FOR DIRECT SETTLEMENT BY THIS OFFICE AND, ACCORDINGLY, HE SHOULD BE ADVISED THAT HE MAY SUBMIT TO THE CLAIMS DIVISION, GENERAL ACCOUNTING OFFICE, WASHINGTON 25, D.C., ANY CLAIM HE MAY HAVE FOR THE SAID PAY, TOGETHER WITH EVIDENCE OF FLIGHT ORDERS AND OF FLIGHTS PERFORMED DURING THE PERIOD INVOLVED. THE ENCLOSURES RECEIVED WITH YOUR LETTER, TOGETHER WITH ONE COPY OF SUCH LETTER, ARE RETURNED HEREWITH.
