BY LETTER DATED JANUARY 4, 1952, THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE, REFERRED TO THIS OFFICE YOUR FOURTEENTH INDORSEMENT OF SEPTEMBER 13, 1951, REQUESTING AN ADVANCE DECISION ON THE CLAIM OF HILDA TOTTEN, WIDOW OF WESLEY V. TOTTEN, DECEASED, LATE SECOND LIEUTENANT, GRADE 0-1, 139TH FIGHTER SQUADRON (SE), 52D FIGHTER WING, NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD, FOR ARMORY DRILL PAY DUE THE DECEDENT AT THE DATE OF HIS DEATH ON OCTOBER 6, 1949, SUPPORTED BY SUPPLEMENTAL ARMORY DRILL PAY ROLL OF THE SAID ORGANIZATION FOR THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 1 TO OCTOBER 31, 1949.

THE CLAIMANT APPEARS TO BE ENTITLED, AS WIDOW OF WESLEY V. TOTTEN, DECEASED, TO SUCH AMOUNT AS WAS LEGALLY DUE THE DECEDENT FOR ARMORY DRILL PAY AT THE DATE OF HIS DEATH (SEE THE ACT OF JUNE 30, 1906, 34 STAT. 750, AS AMENDED BY SECTION 4 OF THE ACT OF FEBRUARY 25, 1946, 60 STAT. 30), AND PAYMENT TO HER IN THAT AMOUNT IS AUTHORIZED, IF OTHERWISE CORRECT, NO DETERMINATION BEING MADE HEREIN AS TO THE CORRECTNESS OF THE AMOUNT OF SUCH PAYMENT, OR AS TO THE CORRECTNESS OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL PAY ROLL IN OTHER RESPECTS.

THE CLAIM AND SUPPORTING PAPERS, TRANSMITTED WITH YOUR LETTER, ARE RETURNED HEREWITH.
