Highlights

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on the Post-Federal Telecommunications System (FTS) 2000 program strategy, focusing on whether the General Services Administration (GSA) has followed an appropriate process for selecting its acquisition strategy. GAO noted that: (1) GSA and the Interagency Management Council (IMC) have followed an appropriate process for selecting a post-FTS 2000 acquisition strategy; (2) IMC and GSA have held conferences, issued reports, and taken significant steps to ensure that industry, federal agencies, and other interested parties have an opportunity to comment on the FTS 2000 acquisition strategy; and (3) GSA plans to publish the final results of the IMC acquisition alternatives analysis, announce which acquisition strategy has been selected, and begin soliciting public comment on its acquisition selection in December 1994.
