Contact:
Pursuant to a legislative requirement and a request by the Architect of the Capitol, GAO examined the Senate Restaurants' revolving fund's: (1) financial statements as of October 5, 1991 and September 29, 1990; (2) internal controls; and (3) compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
GAO found that: (1) the fund's financial statements present fairly, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles, its assets, liabilities, government equity, results of operations, and cash flows; (2) the fund has incurred operating losses since 1987 and has relied on supplemental Senate funding since 1989; and (3) there was no evidence of material weaknesses in the fund's internal controls or noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations for the year ended October 5, 1991.
